The HandiWriter™ and SportWriter™ are designed to facilitate the correct positioning and holding of a writing tool. It is recommended for use with children kindergarten age and up who have inappropriate grasp patterns. Our “Writers” are being used in classrooms, clinics and homes all over the world, and have proven beneficial to all children who are learning to write. They can be used with many of the pencil grips currently available. The HandiWriter™ and SportWriter™ feature a wrist loop, writing utensil loop and dolphin or sport charms on the cord for grasping. Materials/Construction: Soft, comfortable, cotton stretch knit band, satin cord. The HandiWriter® has a dolphin charm, and the SportWriter® has a Baseball, Soccer Ball, Basketball or Football charm.
Instructions: See video on this page. The HandiWriter® is worn with the large loop around the wrist. The charm is held in the palm of the hand with the pinky and ring fingers. The thumb, first and middle fingers grasp a pencil and the top loop of the HandiWriter® is placed around the top of the pencil. This pulls the pencil back into the web of the hand, and forms the therapist recommended “TRIPOD GRIP”.
Colors/Size/Packaging: The HandiWriter® is available in Red, Blue, Purple & Yellow with a dolphin charm. SportWriters® are available in Black (soccer ball), Red (Baseball), Orange (Basketball) or Brown (Football). One size fits most children. Sold individually or in bulk packs of 4, 8, 12, 50 or 100 count packages.
Comments: Hand washing and air-drying is recommended. WARNING: This product contains small parts which could present a choking hazard. To insure the safety of the user, adequate supervision is recommended.
